Welcome to our Blog
Hello beautiful, we are thrilled you're here!
Let's get started! My name is Peyton Stephens, Co-Owner of the shop with my sweet mother, Donna Stephens. I am the face behind what goes on around here and I am so excited to share more insights of our little business.
To start off our first blog, I am going to share more about myself and Sweet Life. This place has my heart and I am eager to watch these doors continue to open in front of us.
Currently I am 22 years old. Fashion and design have been my true passion since I could remember. The former owner of Sweet Life; Erin Gillet, created a spot that will be dear to Olympia, Washington as the years carry on. We took ownership at the start of 2018. As I was finishing my senior year of high school, I was spending my free time learning about the shop and what this responsibility was going to consist of. I could not wait to get my feet wet. After my first buying trip to Downtown LA, I knew I had a lot to learn. I needed to know how much to buy, which was determined on how much was getting sold. To see success, I also needed to know what I was buying, which meant I needed to know my customer and what they like to see in the shop, styles that fit them best, a variety of price points, etc. One of the main things I focus on is making sure I have pieces for all ages that come into shop. I have customers ranging from ages 16-60.
One of my favorite parts of my job would be the merchandising aspect. When I have a vision, I am ready to bring it to life. I think this is a very important part of creating an experience for your customers when they come in. Making sure it feels welcoming the minute they open that door. Sweet Life is very fresh and airy with a touch of boho.
Close to the end of 2019 we started brainstorming a second location. Beginning of 2020, that second location started to come to life. We settled on a corner space up in Tacoma, WA on the waterfront at Point Ruston. Without knowing we were heading into a pandemic, we were getting started on creating our dream space. This was going to be our first step in growing our little shop outside of Olympia. Long story short; as I would like to revisit this topic, we had a seamless transition and opportunity that has resulted in just one store at the moment.
We have some much to cover! We can't wait for you to follow our weekly blog. This is just the start. We are beyond blessed for the seasons this business has brought and all that we have learned so far. Far more to come!
xx
